I don't usually do the whole "blogging tag" thing. I don't know why. Perhaps it's my little rebellion, kind of like mismatched socks or something. But, seeing as how it's been over 4 weeks since my last post and my oldest sister has been pestering me about it, I suppose I should blog about something. So, here you go.
Name 5 Goals and the Places You've Lived
Goals
- Organize my Classroom Library: I love books. And I have a lot of them. But, sometimes I find it's difficult to keep track of them when I share them with 10-year-olds. And sometimes they aren't taken care of in a way that supports my OCD tendencies with my books. So, this summer I have been working on covering all my books with contact paper and putting them all into a computerized catalog system. Now all I have to do is figure out the best way to check them out to my students so I actually know who has what book! (Suggestions are welcome!)
- Get Out of Debt: It's not like I have millions of dollars in debt. It's just that I figure the best time to pay off student loans and such is your single years. So, I'd like to get my car paid off and my student loans paid off in the next few years.
- Get a Master's Degree: Okay, if you are a teacher in this state for any extended period of time, a Master's Degree is almost mandatory because you get a pay raise with a Master's Degree. (Isn't that nice? They pay you more to pay off even more student loans!!) I actually have already started working on a Master's Degree unofficially. I haven't actually taken the Master's Program entrance exam, but they count up to 12 credits before you are admitted to the program. So, my plan is to take the entrance exam sometime in the Spring or during the Summer. Thinking of doing it the same time as the PRAXIS test was just a little too much to handle!
- Travel: The Second Counselor in our ward bishopric and his wife are pretty young, so they have a really great perspective in the ward. Any way, his wife was saying the other day that one of the best things she did while she was single was travel. So, I've decided that I would like to do that as well. I mean, I'm currently working in a profession where travel is very, very possible . . . seeing as how I have three months of the year off. So, I'm currently planning a trip next summer. I'm just not sure to where yet . . . New York? Nauvoo? Disneyland? Canada? South Carolina? San Diego? I'm sure the destination will change a time or two between now and then!
- Be More Social: I feel like this is always a goal I have for myself!! I find it really hard to socialize with people and put myself out there to meet new people. And, the people in my ward are really young!!!! But, my goal is really to become more involved with ward activities and things, assuming that the social part will come as a result of that!
- Taylorsville, UT (Technically this should count as four different places . . . I moved, came back, moved again, came back, moved again, and came back again.)
- Provo, UT (in my first college apartment)
- Provo, UT (in my second college apartment . . . upstairs from the first one!)
- The MCKB, BYU Campus ;-)
- Can I count Provo, UT (in the MTC)?
- Mount Pleasant, SC
- Spartanburg, SC
- Hartsville, SC
- Camden, SC
- Summerville, SC
- Provo, UT (my third college apartment)

You know, I didn't even consider the MCKB as a home, but in fact it was for several years. And the HFAC was my home for about three years before that. Hmmm. Seems like I wasted about five years of rent money.
I'm glad you finally blogged again!
Traveling sounds like a great idea to me. It's hard to do that now with a family, although we do go on vacation. I want to go other places, too, when my kids are grown - like Italy, Greece, New York, etc.
Oh. MY. GOODNESS. I'm pretty OCD about my library, too. Well, you remember--I do recall you helping me enter a large number of books into my computer. But I don't keep good track of what student has what book.
What will you be getting a Masters Degree in?
