Technically Speaking

When I was in elementary school I remember a project one of my teachers gave me. In groups, we were given the assignment to write and illustrate a story. While this isn't an unusual assignment for an elementary class, I generally loved this assignment more than I think most kids did. I was determined at that age that I was going to grow up and be an author. My friend Shanna was going to be my illustrator and we were going to be bazillionaires. Obviously that went really well. Any way, on this particular assignment, our teacher busted out the super cool technology. We got to draw our pictures on film strip film and record the story on a cassette tape to play along with the filmstrip. That was some pretty spectacular creativity on my part, and to see it on film was fantastic.

As I attended a technology conference this weekend, I realized that my fabulous film was no longer a forerunner in freaking awesome technology. My poor little film has become obsolete. I attended two classes where we created the new, super cool technological advanced version of my cute little filmstrip. Using clay or other objects, we took digital pictures and turned them into a "high-tech" flip book. Technology has come a long way from the little film that made me feel technologically advanced at a young age. And in about an hour a piece, we were able to create some pretty entertaining projects.

Those were awesome! I can imagine your face as you made them. You probably had that mischievous look in your eye as only Esther can. Love ya.
